You gaze over the canyon as you hike along with your llamas. An eagle soars over your head and cries out. The sky is a gorgeous pink with turquoise blue streaks. It’s the perfect day.
Someone taps you on the shoulder…”Are those reports finished yet?” Ahhhhhh at least you can daydream about Indian Summer throughout the work day.
An earthy-glam necklace that can be worn is a few different ways. For a dramatic look wear as one strand which measures 45 inches long. Or for a fun funky feel, wrap around your neck two or three times. A gorgeous sari ribbon is attached on the back so you may tie to the length desired.
This unique necklace was created by crocheting non-tarnish antique bronze wire with semiprecious stones of blue turquoise and pink jasper. Woven into the piece are red heishi beads, copper glass beads and vibrant handmade paper beads. These colorful paper beads were made by women from the refugee camps of northern Uganda. Handmade from strips of discarded colored paper and magazine pages. They are rolled into beads and lacquered with a non-toxic varnish. Income from the sale of these Fair Trade African beads helps these women support themselves and families as they return to homesteads to rebuild their lives.
Fringes of sari ribbon in jewel-toned and autumn hues are intertwined with the wire giving this necklace a bohemian look. This beautiful, up-cycled ribbon is created by women in Fair Trade co-ops by collecting the remnants of sari silk fabric accumulated during the trimming of fabric during the manufacturing process. These women and able to support themselves and their families thanks to Fair Trade organizations.
An eco-friendly nandsculpted paper clay tribal face with a turquoise stone dangles from the necklace. She is painted in hues of gold, bronze and a touch of silver. She wears an earring of red heishi and copper beads.
